Little Learners: 2 year olds

Children eligible for two year old funding start at our nursery school in the term after they are two in our Little Learners Room. They have their own outdoor space but will also have opportunities to go in our nursery garden and forest school.

They can attend for either 5 morning sessions (8.30am-11.30am) or 5 afternoon sessions (12.30pm – 3.30pm) a week. They will move to Explorers, our 3-4 year old nursery room, sometime after their third birthday when they are ready and when there is a space for them.

Children in Little Learners have a higher staff to child ratio than in Explorers with 1 nursery practitioner for every 4 children. The staff in Little Learners observe the children’s interests and schemas and plan activities appropriately, with a qualified teacher overseeing the curriculum . There is a large focus on the prime areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage which are Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development and Communication and Language.

Below are photographs of our provision. Our spaces are carefully planned by our skilled practitioners. We encourage our children to be curious. To be a successful learner you need to be curious! Curiosity drives children in the Early Years. We aim to provide our setting with open ended, natural resources to stimulate the children’s senses. We want to create a space when children can thrive, learn new skills and be life long learners.
